ROOKS Play Well In Tournament, Fall To Eventual Champions 1-0 In Second Round

As the Europa Indoor League season comes to a close, we at ECFC are immensely proud of our players, coaches and staff for an amazing first experience in a club campaign. We look toward the Spring and Summer outdoor season with a good amount of momentum and a positive attitude. Outdoor, here we come. Our final tournament performance was very promising. We were knocked out in the second round by the eventual champions, who were very impressed with our performance in that game. More notes below from Coach Wojtek.

FINAL TOURNAMENT / INDOOR SEASON - Final Coaches Notes.

“Great final performance by The ROOKS as every player left everything on the pitch. We won first game 2-1 against opponent we recently lost to.  Result of our quarter final was very unlucky for us as we lost 0-1 against Jagiellonia who eventually ended up winning whole tournament. This shows that we can compete with every team if we work together and play with 100% effort.  I was very sad for players as we had couple of good chances to swing the result in our favor. We allowed other team only couple shots on target and they ended up scoring during Power Play (we had one less player, because of blue card) with a shot that went top corner, unsavable.

Overall Our first indoor season was a success, we had a lot of different experiences on and off the pitch that we learned form. We gave a chance to play to 30 players (no other team played over 20) Our players experienced how it is to compete every single week for points. Indoor game is a quicker then outdoor game because there are walls, so not throw-ins and no corners.  Players are forced to make quicker decisions and play in transition a lot. I know that things we learned indoor will pay dividends once we go outdoors. Good Job ROOKS!

I would like to say thank you to all our staff: General Manager, Director of soccer operations, All Media Staff, Players and all the fans that came and watched us do what we love. Thank you!!!”
