CHICAGO - Edgewater Castle FC is proud to announce that Winnemac Stadium, located in Winnemac Park, will be the new home for the Rooks in 2026.

Winnemac Park, part of Chicago’s school-park program, has served the Ravenswood neighborhood for many years. Bounded by major streets such as Damen, Foster, Leavitt, and Argyle, Winnemac Park’s accessible playground, scenic prairie garden and nature trail, softball fields and soccer field have been a community staple for not only local residents but to the students of its adjacent schools, Chappell Elementary and Amundsen High School.

Named after its adjacent street Winnemac Avenue, Winnemac Park honors and recognizes the original stewards of the land it resides upon. Winnemac, a prominent Potawatomi chief and warrior, was a part of the Great Lakes tribe delegation that signed the 1795 Treaty of Grenville which gave the U.S. government the land which would become Chicago.Â

Since its establishment in 1910, Winnemac Stadium has hosted multiple notable soccer events. Gil Heron and the Chicago Maroons played there in the 1940s and 1950s, and international soccer superstar Luka Modrić played with the Croatian U21 squad against the Chicago Fire reserves team on June 11th, 2005.Â

Edgewater Castle FC is excited to become a part of Winnemac Stadium’s storied history in the new year. In partnering with local officials, businesses, and the Ravenswood community, ECFC is committed to provide quality United Soccer League soccer to its neighbors while also honoring and supporting the causes that Winnemac Park has upheld for over a century.Â
