CHICAGO — Edgewater Castle FC’s Men’s First Team started off their USASA Amateur Cup run hot Wednesday night with a 5-0 win at Foster Turf Field against SAC Wisla Chicago, with Rooks striker Murtadha Kamil scoring four goals to seal the victory.

GOALS:
Bardia Kimiavi 11’
Murtadha Kamil 72’, 77’ (A Lalo Aguilar), 82’, 88’

The Rooks maintained strong possession and prevented Wisla from getting in the net throughout the 90 minutes. Led by captain Quentin “Q” Benedetto and Tobias Wimmer defending the backline, and Loyola University Chicago’s own Aidan Crawford in goal, the Rooks maintained a clean sheet.

Edgewater Castle were also strong in the midfield, keeping the vast majority of possession through the match despite Wisla’s physical offensive style. Midfielder Alex Gomez was especially crucial, moving the ball around Wisla’s defenders and getting the ball into scoring positions.
Thanks to their defensive and midfield play, the Men’s First Team’s offense was able to shine. The Rooks started early, with winger Bardia Kimiavi scoring in the 11th minute. Darting down the field, Kimiavi dodged the keeper in the box by moving to the right, slotting the ball into an open net.
The Rooks were then quite up front until some crucial 60th minute substitutions were made by Head Coach Duygu Edroğan. Refreshing the offensive line, striker Murtadha Kamil and winger Lalo Aguilera came on to shake up the game.
Kamil and Aguilera’s impact was immediately felt. Only 12 minutes later, winger Enzo Dagatti would draw a penalty while pressing into the box. Stepping up for the occasion, Kamil would send the ball calmly past the keeper, curving it slightly to the right while shooting straight. Shortly after at 77’, Aguilera ran the ball left of the field and crossed directly to Kamil, who scored a tap-in.

The barrage of goals would continue only minutes later. With the Wisla defense feeling depleted, Kamil scored a hat trick at 82’, rushing past defenders and scoring into the left corner. To wrap things up, Kamil would secure his fourth goal of the night at 88’, bending the ball rightward past the Wisla keeper’s reach.
“Every time I score [is my proudest moment as a player],” Kamil said after the match. “Especially after tonight!”
